OnStage Seniors

WHAT IS ONSTAGE SENIORS?
The OnStage Senior program is a transformative initiative dedicated to crafting compelling documentary theater performances that delve into the rich narratives of our local community. By spotlighting the life stories and experiences of individuals over the age of fifty-five, our ensemble members bring these captivating performances to a diverse array of venues, including theaters, libraries, schools, and senior centers. Through their artistic expression, they skillfully weave together poignant tales, generating a profound impact that resonates with audiences of all ages. By celebrating the cherished memories and unique experiences of seniors, the program sparks a sense of delight, insight, and affirmation, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the collective wisdom and legacy of our older generations.

HISTORY OF ONSTAGE SENIORS
Originally founded in 2007, Onstage Seniors became a part of McCarter Theatre Center in 2014, joining a host of programs designed to educate and engage the community. In 2022 they officially became a part of the Princeton Senior Resource Center.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
OnStage Seniors embarks on an immersive year-long program that kicks off with an introductory information session held in September for new members. If you wish to join our community of performers, you are required to attend this session and take part in the audition process, which opens the door to an extraordinary journey with OnStage Seniors. We request a full year commitment from our members, as it ensures an enriching experience through the various stages of development, rehearsals, and captivating performances that take place throughout the year.

Director
David Lee White serves as the director of OnStage Seniors and guides the performers through rehearsals and the process. He is a playwright, performer, and educator and a lifelong lover of the arts.
