Annual Report: November 2005Annual Report: November 2005
The Princeton Senior Resource Center has had a very good year. Both the Suzanne Patterson Building and Spruce Circle office were busy right through the summer. We are starting the Fall with an action-packed schedule, including 13 Evergreen Forum Classes and 17 other PSRC classes (fitness, education and enrichment) as well as games, social, informational and support opportunities. Almost 450 people attend these programs each week. Another 580 calls and walk-ins come in to the office weekly for information on local resources, programs, counseling and assistance. This bulletin is distributed to over 1400 people monthly. The people served are as diverse as the wider community.
We are working hard to fulfill our strategic plan to become the "Go To" place for activities and information for older adults and caregivers. We do this in a way that is inclusive and which promotes aging in place with dignity. We work collaboratively with other organizations in the community, such as the Recreation Department, Health Department, Library, Princeton Healthcare System, American Red Cross, Princeton Regional Schools and Mercer County Office on Aging.
Volunteers play a critical role in the success of PSRC and our ability to provide such an array of services on a limited budget. We had 310 volunteers last year, including 30 Grandpals, 28 HomeFriends, 36 LINK students, 15 office assistants and 21 board members. There are 3 full-time and 4 part-time staff and 2 consultants.
We are very excited to announce that our 2005 Community Resource Directory is finished. Stop in and pick up your copy of this valuable guide to local programs and resources. Plan for the Future Day was a great success. We are currently planning programs to help you understand Medicare Part D on October 28 and again in November. At the same time, we are getting ready for an Art Show benefit "In and Around Princeton," Flu Shot and Health Fair Days and the Holiday Party. Please join us for any/all of these special events. Things are hopping at PSRC!
The Princeton Senior Resource Center is a private, non-profit agency. We do not have a membership list or fee. Participants pay a modest fee for classes, but social services are offered without charge. The budget for last fiscal year (ending 6/30/05) was $339,442. 30% of our funding came from the municipal governments, 27% from individual donors and events, 21% from foundations and grants, 5% from contracts, 9% from participant fees and 8% from other sources.
Soon you will be receiving our Annual Newsletter and our Annual Appeal. Please continue to generously support PSRC so that we can fulfill our mission to serve the wider Princeton Community. Susan W. Hoskins LCSWExecutive Director |
