Spring Cleaning II June 2008

Spring Cleaning Part II

June 2008

Now that you have cleared away all the papers that could be shredded, it is time to organize the important papers that are left. There are several systems available to help you organize.

One example is the Ultimate Protection Portfolio™  by Suze Orman. This kit is available through Suze Orman’s website (and we have an example at the Suzanne Patterson Building). The plastic case includes a CD-ROM that talks you through the steps to create vital forms and documents, an integrated filing system for organizing critical documents, and 10 booklets corresponding with the file folders with tips, worksheets and checklists as well on tips for protecting yourself. It also includes a checklist and pocket for collecting important tax documents during the year. Once you have compiled your kit, be sure to let your family know where you keep it. The handy waterproof briefcase is easy to grab if you have to leave your home in an emergency or if you split your time between homes.

Another aspect of clearing your space is emptying the basement, attic and closets of the many things that have accumulated through the years but are no longer used. Here are some suggestions for ways to recycle some of these things:
